Proposals for Improved Management of CCAMLR’s Krill Fisheries: Overview of Recommended Updates

As CCAMLR discusses the management strategy for the Antarctic krill fisheries, it should make concomitant improvements in the transparency and operational standards of the fisheries to ensure that the krill fisheries are carried out in accordance with the principles of conservation in Article II of the Convention. We propose revising several conservation measures at CCAMLR-42 to improve monitoring of the krill stocks and the vessels participating in krill fisheries. The following individual proposals include elements from CCAMLR-41/36 Rev. 1 submitted to CCAMLR-41 by Australia and the United States.
