    Abstract

The Scientific Committee requested a review of the publication policy with respect to the purpose of CCAMLR Science and to develop options to increase the visibility and transparency of science conducted by CCAMLR (SC-CAMLR-40, paragraph 8.2). Given the decreased interest in submitting scientific papers to CCAMLR Science over the past decade, the objectives of the communication of science could be accomplished using new communication options that include a tiered approach of external peer-review journals, release of self-selected working group papers by Members, publication of science works that peer-review journals are reluctant to publish, and routine publication of data and data summaries by the Secretariat.
