    Abstract

The paper presents data on the spatial distribution, density and size composition of salps of the Salpidae family in the Area 48 in January-December 2020 according to the Russian survey on the RV "Atlántida". The paper presents summarized data on two species of salps found in the research area - Salpa thompsoni and Ihlea racovitzai, obtained using the Isaacs-Kidd research trawl. The frequency distribution of the salpa length is given in accordance with the strata: Scotia Sea (SS), South Shetland Islands (SSI), Mordvinov Island (Elephant Island) and Joinville Island (EI) and Bransfield Strait (BS). According to mass measurements of standard length (internal body length), the most common class is 31-40 mm.
