Abstract
Questions of establishing clear and transparent requirements for the term "best available scientific evidence" used under Article IX(f) of the CCAMLR Convention are discussed. The relevance and urgent need to clarify the scientific and legal aspects of the term "best available scientific evidence" arises from key aspects of the current CCAMLR agenda, most notably those related to spatial and marine resource management in the CCAMLR area.
