2025 Annual Report to the Scientific Committee of CCAMLR

This paper provides the Committee for Environmental Protection’s (CEP) annual report to the Scientific Committee of CAMLR (SC-CAMLR) on activities relevant to the work of SC-CAMLR.  The Twenty-seventh meeting of the CEP was held in Milan, Italy between June 23-27, 2025.  Discussions on the five topics of common interest at CEP 27 included progress on: the Joint CEP/SC-CAMLR workshop to be held in May 2026 in Japan; preparedness and response to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Antarctica; discussions on the status of emperor penguins; consideration of draft Management Plans for Antarctic Specially Protected Areas; and the development of an environmental monitoring framework.
