Habitat use by chinstrap and gentoo penguins from two Gerlache Strait colonies during the 2024/25 breeding season

In this document, we describe the foraging parameters and diet of chinstrap (Pygoscelis antarcticus) and gentoo (Pygoscelis papua) penguins breeding in two colonies located at Cierva Cove, within the proposed Seasonal Protection Zone (SPZ-GS, D1MPA proposal) and Gerlache Strait Management Unit (KFMA), in order to identify the foraging areas used by these species during the 2024/25 chick-rearing period. Our aim is to provide updated and spatially explicit ecological information on predator-prey dynamics in the Gerlache Strait (WAP), thereby supporting the D1MPA proposal, informing the KFMA, and contributing to the development of a comprehensive regional data collection plan
