This document reports the incidental capture of a 10-meter humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) by the Chilean fishing vessel Antarctic Endeavour on 25th March 2025, during haul number 18 in Subarea 48.2. The event was recorded in the vessel’s C1 form, as well as in the report and logbook completed by the SISO scientific observer and submitted to the CCAMLR Secretariat.
This report is submitted for consideration by CCAMLR Members, as both the Chilean delegation and the fishing company seek to address this concerning event transparently. This is the second incident reported in the same area involving the same vessel. The previous event occurred in February 2024 (WG-FSA-IMAF-2024/02).
