    Abstract

To date, the CCAMLR Regulatory Framework does not have a clear and transparent classification of fisheries, which has led to disagreements in understanding the nature of different types of fisheries.
The Russian Federation is proposing a classification and definition for toothfish fisheries nomenclature in the CCAMLR area to support and improve the activities of the e-group “Regulatory Framework and Clarification on Fisheries Nomenclature” established by the Commission (CCAMLR-38, para. 5.34).
The Russian Federation is proposing the development of a classification system for toothfish fisheries nomenclature in two stages. The first stage involves analysing the procedural and implementation aspects of classifying Antarctic fisheries within the regulatory framework. The second stage is to establish the status of existing fisheries and provide clarification on fisheries nomenclature.
