    Abstract

In response to the complexity of ecological systems and increased attention given to reproducibility in science, this paper presents a reproducible and collaborative framework for developing biodiversity indicators. Grounded in the FAIR principles, the approach integrates Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs) as a standardized monitoring framework, and automated, modular workflows on the Galaxy platform to ensure traceability and reusability. By building on existing datasets and international collaborations, this initiative aims to deliver SMART indicators that strengthen transparency, reproducibility, and scientific rigor in biodiversity monitoring and environmental assessments. This framework has many potential applications, including within the East Antarctic Marine Protected Area proposal governance framework.
