    Abstract

This new research plan aims to update information on Patagonian Toothfish (Dissostichus eleginoides) in Subarea 48.3A during the 2025/26–2027/28 fishing seasons, following an 18-year data gap (2008–2025). The primary objectives are: a) obtain unbiased abundance estimates for Patagonian toothfish species using design-based methods; b) characterize biological parameters including length/age structure, age-length key (ALK), reproductive data, and maturity indices; c)
continue the CCAMLR tagging program with balanced spatial coverage to complement the research study connectivity between adjacent subareas; d) assess ecosystem impacts through bycatch species characterization and monitoring of seabird/marine mammal interaction.
