    Abstract

Assessment of the Patagonian toothfish (D. eleginoides) in Subarea 48.3 indicates that the current status of the stock is at 47% of B0. Projections indicate that a constant catch of 2,000 tonnes in the 2024 and 2025 seasons would be consistent with the CCAMLR decision rule after accounting for recent mammal depredation rates.

Based on this assessment, we propose two recommendations from Working Group FSA to the Scientific Committee:

    1. that the Casal2 stock assessment replace the CASAL stock assessment as the basis for providing catch advice for this stock, and the migration to Casal2 be regarded as complete,
    2. that the catch limit for D. eleginoides in Subarea 48.3 should be set at 2,000 tonnes for 2023/24 and 2024/25.
