Addressing the recommendations from SC-CAMLR-42 and WG-EMM-2024 on the science supporting the proposal for the Weddell Sea Marine Protected Area Phase 2.

The Forty-second meeting of the Scientific Committee, SC-CAMLR-42 (16 October – 20 October 2023) provided two recommendations to improve the scientific basis of the proposed Weddell Sea Marine Protected Area Phase 2. Since then, the Working Group on Ecosystem Monitoring and Management meeting held in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands (1 July – 12 July 2024) provided a further recommendation. Here we address the recommendations from SC-CAMLR-42 and WG-EMM-2024. We also provide a response to a suggestion from SC-CAMLR-42 regarding the proposed Special Research Zones.
