Résumé
This document presents background information on the technical, scientific, and environmental aspects of the Antarctic Cable Project, an initiative led by Chile. The project aims to deploy the first fiber-optic submarine cable between continental Chile and some places located along South Shetland Islands and the northern Antarctic Peninsula (Peninsula Tierra de O´Higgins), providing high-speed wired connectivity to support Earth´s systems monitoring and to enhance scientific collaboration among Members. The document is submitted as background information for CCAMLR Members, highlighting the project's potential to serve as a valuable tool to facilitate and support future CCAMLR-related activities.
