In 2024, Seaview Bay of on Inexpression Island in the Ross Sea Region was selected as a CEMP Network sites for monitoring studies on Adélie penguin (Pygoscelis adeliae) to complement the programs in the main Integrated Study Regions. During late austral spring season 2024/2025 (November 20 to 24, 2024), the Chinese team conducted monitoring of some parameters of the Adelie penguin population following standard CEMP methods, with supports from Korea team. The breeding population was counted at approximately 30,000 nests. The female penguin was weighed 3,780 g (n=1), and the weight of males was averaged 4,592.50±321.12 g (n=4). Additionally, we monitored the breeding population of South Polar Skua (Stercorarius maccormicki), which nests in the same habitat as the Adélie penguins. This initiative was supported by the new Chinese Qinling Station, and will provide valuable experience for future long-term monitoring activities to achieve the CEMP aims.
