CEMP Special Fund activities 2023

One new proposal for the CCAMLR Ecosystem Monitoring Program (CEMP) Special Fund was submitted, proposing the use of tagging crabeater seals to document their under-ice foraging behaviors and the characteristics of krill swarms they hunt. The management panel recommended partial funding of the proposal. Three ongoing projects received funding from the CEMP Special Fund in 2023. One ongoing project to fund maintenance of the CEMP Camera network is expected to continue in 2023/24 with an expenditure of $A17 600 expected in 2024. Two other projects were delayed by Covid-19 and are currently in progress.
