    Abstract

To date, the CCAMLR Regulatory Framework does not have a clear and transparent classification of fisheries, which has led to disagreements in understanding the different types of fisheries.

To support and enhance the activities of the e-group "Regulatory Framework and clarification on fisheries nomenclature" established by the Commission (CCAMLR-38, paragraph 5.34), the Russian Federation submits proposals for the classification of toothfish fisheries nomenclature.

The Russian Federation proposes to develop the classification of toothfish fisheries nomenclature in two stages: the first stage is to analyse the procedural and implementation aspects of the classification of Antarctic fisheries within the regulatory framework, and the second stage is to establish the status of existing fisheries (clarification on fisheries nomenclature). Our view is that the results of each stage should be approved by the Commission.
