Proposal for an initial implementation of the revised Krill Fishery Management Approach in Subarea 48.1

This document outlines a proposal for transitioning the krill fishery management system in Area 48 from a fixed quota regime to a dynamic Krill Fishery Management Approach (KFMA). The proposed approach integrates recent advancements in risk assessment frameworks and biomass estimation technologies. The transition is envisioned as a stepwise process, beginning with Subarea 48.1, where the scientific knowledge base is most robust. The document also discusses the implications of different management unit configurations and proposes modifications to CM 51-01, as well as the establishment of a new CM 51-08 to regulate krill fishing in Subarea 48.1 and harmonisation with the proposed Domain 1 Marine Protected Area (D1MPA).
