Draft conservation measure for a Weddell Sea Marine Protected Area – Phase 2

Norway submitted for consideration by the Commission at CCAMLR-42 a draft conservation measure for the designation of a Weddell Sea Marine Protected Area Phase 2 (WSMPA Phase 2). Since then, the United Kingdom and Australia have joined as co-proponents. The draft conservation measure has been subject to continued improvement thanks to feedback provided by Members and Observers. A revised proposal was submitted to CCAMLR-43. No further changes have been made to the proposal for CCAMLR-44, but work is underway to specify the Research and Monitoring Plan and to update relevant supporting material where required.
