    Abstract

    A draft MoU submitted by the IWC Secretariat for discussion and comment. The proposed MoU is designed to recognise the importance of collaboration between the CCAMLR and IWC and clearly identify areas of cooperation particularly between the Scientific Committees of both Commissions in order to advance their agendas and increase efficiencies.
    This is in line with the decisions and discussions by both organisations. The IWC adopted a resolution on cooperation within Antarctica during its 69th meeting (IWC69) held in September 2024, in Lima, Peru (detail in COMM CIRC 24/107 and SC CIRC 24/78). CCAMLR-43 Recalled Convention Article XXIII(3) and strongly supported cooperation with the IWC and agreed that Members could initiate discussions with the IWC regarding an MoU, so that this issue could be considered at CCAMLR-44.
