    Abstract

    The harmonisation of the designation of Domain 1 MPA (D1MPA) and the Krill Fishery Management Approach (KFMA) in the Antarctic Peninsula was the focus of lengthy discussions at the Harmonisation Symposium (HS-2024, CCAMLR‑43/29) and WG‑EMM‑2024 (WG‑EMM-2024, paras. 5.1 to 5.71). 

    The Russian Federation maintains its position on the lack of substantiation for the scientific and legal aspects of the revision of the KFMA, the establishment of the Domain 1 MPA, and the KFMA and D1MPA harmonisation scenario. 

    This document follows the position repeatedly stated by the Russian delegation at the meetings of the Scientific Committee and the Commission concerning the revision of the krill fisheries management schemes and the designation of MPAs in the CCAMLR Convention Area, including Domain 1 MPA [CCAMLR-42/28; CCAMLR-SM-III/10; CCAMLR-41/34; CCAMLR-41/BG/33; CCAMLR-41/41; SC-CAMLR-42/07; WG‑EMM‑2024, paras. 5.14, 5,15, and 5,20].
