The CCAMLR Scientific Scholarship Scheme received two applications in 2024 (South Africa and USA). The panel recommended up to two scholarships could be awarded by the Scientific Committee, to Dr. Zoleka Filander (South Africa) for work on predicting present and future distributions of VMEs in the greater Weddell Sea, and to Ms. Rose Leeger (USA) for work on population distribution and connectivity of Antarctic toothfish. A summary of the scholarship scheme outcomes to date highlighted that scholarships have been awarded to applicants from 13 Members, that 156 CCAMLR papers have been authored by scholarship recipients after their scholarship award, and that 14 of the 20 recipients are still active in the CCAMLR community, several in leadership roles.
