    Abstract

The CCAMLR Scheme of International Scientific Observation (SISO) is a cornerstone for monitoring and assessing the impact of fishing on the ecosystem and for evaluating conservation measures. Chile, through the Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH), has maintained a long-standing commitment to SISO implementation and to the proper training of
observers. This report summarises the outcomes of Chile’s fourth national training course for Scientific Observers, held from 4 to 7 August 2025 at the facilities of INACH and the University of Magallanes (UMAG), with the participation of 24 newly trained Scientific Observers.
