    Abstract

Three Chinese continuous krill fishing vessels, SHEN LAN, FU XING HAI, and FU YUAN YU 9199, conducted the trial on net monitoring cable/warp seabird-strike mitigation measures during the 2024/25 fishing season in accordance with CM25-03 (2024). The vessels FU XING HAI and FU YUAN YU 9199 used the continuous fishing method throughout the whole fishing season, while SHEN LAN used this fishing method for only a very short period. A set of mitigation devices were deployed on the net monitoring cables, trawl warps and other additional gear supporting ropes/wires. The on-vessel observation coverage for SHEN LAN, FU XING HAI, and FU YUAN YU 9199 were 12.0%, 5.5% and 24.0% respectively. A total of 44 seabird strikes were observed across all the three vessels. The detailed report will be submitted to WG-IMAF-2026 for further discussion.
