Progress with recommendations from the CCAMLR Workshop on Climate Change

The outcomes of the Workshop on Climate Change (WS-CC-2023) were presented to the Scientific Committee (SC-CAMLR-42/11) and all recommendations were endorsed (SC-CAMLR-42). This paper highlights those recommendations directed to, as well as others of relevance to, CCAMLR’s Working Group on Ecosystem Monitoring and Management (WG-EMM). Recalling that climate change is a standing item for consideration for all CCAMLR scientific Working Groups and acknowledging the overlap on this topic between the working groups, Scientific Committee, and relevant fora, the below table is suggested as a means to help coordinate and ensure continued progress with integrating workshop outcomes and climate change considerations throughout CCAMLR’s work programme. WG-EMM is encouraged to update the progress column in the table with a view to submitting this to the Scientific Committee later this year and to continue to progress the recommendations directed primarily to WG-EMM; contribute to other recommendations and tasks where appropriate; and include consideration of climate change in its advice.
