    Abstract

Fisheries within the CCAMLR Area are required to operate following CCAMLR Conservation Measures (CM). The current Patagonian toothfish (Dissostichus eleginoides) and Antarctic toothfish (Dissostichus mawsoni) fisheries have been monitored consistently across Subareas 48.2, 48.3 and 48.4 during the last years, producing scientific data for making progress towards an estimate of the toothfish fishery potential yield and productivity. This document provides a new Chilean research plan that will complement scientific data’s current state into Subarea 48.2.

This proposal has taken up the option referred to the exception showed by CM 32-02, which state that fishing prohibition shall not apply to the taking of specified taxa (e.g., Dissostichus spp.) for scientific research purpose under CM 24-01 (2022).
