Priority SMART criteria for assessing the RSRMPA

We present 20 SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound) criteria that can aid implementation of the Ross Sea region Marine Protected Area (RSRMPA) Research and Monitoring Plan (RMP). Building on advice from WG-EMM, we developed a prioritized list of SMART criteria for the RSRMPA RMP from a comprehensive list of 46 SMART criteria first considered by the Third Special Meeting of the Commission (CCAMLR-SM-IIII/12, CCAMLR-SM-III/BG/1). We recommend that the Scientific Committee review and endorse the prioritized list of SMART criteria and that the Commission, on advice from the Scientific Committee, adopt the updated RSRMPA RMP (SC-CAMLR-XXXVI/20 Rev. 1, submitted to CCAMLR-42 and SC-CAMLR-42).
