    Résumé

This paper summarises the outcomes of the Capacity Building for Development of Integrated Stock Assessments (Cap-DLISA) workshop held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain, immediately following the meeting of WG-SAM-2025. The workshop, funded through the CCAMLR General Capacity Building Fund (GCBF), focused on developing Member scientists' capacity to apply integrated stock assessment methods to CCAMLR data-limited toothfish research fisheries, using Antarctic toothfish in Subarea 48.6 as a case study.

Participants from South Africa, Japan, Spain, and Korea attended the workshop and received training in fisheries model development, including development of conceptual models, fitting and analyses of fisheries data, and in the use of Casal2. The workshop resulted in development of analyses supporting the development of an assessment for Antarctic toothfish in Subarea 48.6, assisted in the development of standard R packages (including the scala and gamInflu R packages), recommendations for future data collection, a preliminary Casal2 model for 48.6, and enhanced capacity among participating scientists.

This paper summarizes the workshop content, outcomes, and recommendations for continued development of scientific analyses and stock assessments for data-limited toothfish fisheries within CCAMLR.
