    Abstract

Conversion factors used in the toothfish fishery may vary due to several variables, specifically the weighing and processing method, cut-type, vessel, size of fish and time of year. Using data collected from vessels operating in Subarea 48.3 between 2011 and 2021, this paper attempts to briefly look at the variation in the conversion factor, if any, caused by some of these variables. While it does not go on to offer any solutions it will provide some information for further discussion.Conversion factors used in the toothfish fishery may vary due to several variables, specifically the weighing and processing method, cut-type, vessel, size of fish and time of year.
