Navigating the combined effects of D1MPA and KFMA on krill fishing: An industry perspective

CCAMLR has proposed a network of Marine Protected Areas in Domain 1 (D1MPA) and a revised krill fishery management approach (KFMA) for Area 48. A harmonization symposium was held in Korea in July 2024 to address how these initiatives can work together for Subarea 48.1. ARK appreciates the opportunity to fund and take part in the symposium and we are of the opinion that good progress has been achieved. In this paper we outline what effects a new system can have on krill fishing operations in the area.
