To finalize the first trail of the new, or revised krill management approach for Subarea 48.1, China submitted a paper (SC-CAMLR-41/12) proposing two options, corresponding to simultaneous revisions of CM 51-01 and CM 51-07 together and CM 51-07 alone, respectively. The options are updated based on the relevant outcomes of WG-EMM-2024. It is proposed that (i) if the catch limit allocated for the summer season in any management unit (MU) is not used in full, the remaining catch quota in that MU can be rolled over for the winter season in the same MU; (ii) Some flexibilities on the actual catch in any MU be given while capping the total annual catch by the sum of the allocated catch limits in all MUs; (iii) the protection of land-based predators during their vulnerable life stage could also be achieved through seasonal area-closures.
